Face Coverings

First, I want to say I love you and I am constantly praying for you that your faith would be strengthened in these days! I have complete confidence that God is going to work all of this out for our good.
Second, I need to address Governor Abbott's executive order.
The full text of his order can be found here: https://open.texas.gov/uploads/files/organization/opentexas/EO-GA-29-use-of-face-coverings-during-COVID-19-IMAGE-07-02-2020.pdf
Therefore, in light of the Governor's order Second is requesting anyone over the age of 10 to wear a face covering to church and to LifeGroups. (Per his order if you are teaching a LifeGroup or leading in worship you are not required to wear one.)
Third, I know this raises many questions for people so I'll try to address a few:
1. We will continue to have two services at 9 and 11. Two services allow us to create more space for those who are attending. We will continue with 2 services unless attendance falls to the point 1 service becomes the obvious choice.
2. We will continue to have all our LifeGroups on Sundays at 10. LifeGroups may individually choose not to meet for a time or switch to Zoom Bible studies.
3. At this time, Second does not have the ability to provide masks for those attending that may not have one. If you have masks you would like to donate for that purpose we would be glad to make them available.
4. Keep in mind this is new and people may not know about the order, they may have a medical exception to wearing a mask or they may not yet have one; so please let grace rule the moment.
Finally, I would love to say 'thank you' to each and every one of you--as a church family you have handled all this with much grace and love. So, I want to encourage you to continue to extend grace to those around you and to love one another sincerely and from a pure heart.
“You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.
For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.”
(1 Peter 1:22–23 NLT-SE)

Reopening Second

"On Monday, April 27th, Governor Abbott partially re-opened Texas including churches. Therefore, we
wanted you to know where we are headed and what church will look like in the interim until we
return to a more normal existence. It’s important we remember we aren’t done with the
changes and that it will take some time to work through the re-opening process.
Please know we are praying for you and are working hard to get everyone back as soon and as
safely as we can. We understand there are strong opinions on all sides of this and are doing our
best to move as quickly and as conscientiously as we can for all our families.
Finally, we will continue to update the following information as situations change.
We love you and look forward to seeing you soon!"

What are our recommendations at this time?
  1. We encourage anyone with underlying at-risk health conditions to stay home and watchservices online.
  2. We also encourage those who are 65 years old and above to attend our 9am service orremain at home and watch our worship services online.
  3. Please wash or sanitize your hands prior to entering any of the buildings.
  4. If you or someone in your family has been exposed to Covid-19 please stay home until it is safe for you to be around others.
  5. Please stay home if you, or your children, are feeling sick or running a fever.
  6. Please sit with your family unit and provide space between you and other groups (2 chairs on either side of your group).
  7. If you wish, feel free to wear any protective gear such as masks, etc.
  8. Obviously, we discourage shaking hands with one another.

What will be different?

  • We will not have a ‘meet and greet’ time.

  • No one will be allowed through the children’s building, but rather will need to use the sidewalk located to the side of the building.
  • There will be no bulletins handed out.
  • We will have overflow room available in the Fellowship Hall if needed.
  • In the interim, every other row will be removed in the worship center for distancing.
